About Us

Tanzania Tour Operators is a marketplace that connects travellers with trusted, locally owned tour operators across Tanzania and Kenya.

01

Our mission

We want planning a trip to Tanzania or Kenya to feel clear and safe, and we want the money travellers spend to reach the local people who deliver the trip. Tanzania Tour Operators (TTO) is an online marketplace that brings locally owned tour operators, places to stay, restaurants and local experts together in one place, so you can compare them honestly and talk to them directly.

02

The problem we are solving

Anyone who has tried to plan a safari or a mountain climb from abroad knows how it goes. Dozens of websites look alike. Prices are hard to compare, because one package includes park fees and another does not. It is not always clear who will actually run your trip, whether they are licensed, or whether the reviews are real. Many travellers end up paying an agent abroad who adds a margin and passes the request on to a local company anyway.

TTO shortens that chain. You see who runs each trip, what is included, what other travellers said, and you contact the operator yourself.

03

What you can find on TTO

  • Tour packages: multi-day safaris, beach stays and day trips, with day-by-day itineraries, a route map, what is included and excluded, and prices by group size and season.
  • Mountain trekking: Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru and Mount Kenya climbs, with the route, camps, altitude profile and climate zones for each day.
  • Tour operators: company profiles with licences, specialties, languages, the team and reviews from travellers.
  • Accommodation and restaurants: lodges, camps, hotels, beach resorts and places to eat, with photos, rooms, menus, opening hours and a map.
  • Destination guides and things to do: when to go, wildlife, weather month by month, safety, and what to do once you are there.
  • Local experts: guides and specialists who can answer questions about a place.

How it works for travellers

  1. Browse and compare. Use the filters to narrow tours by country, length, price, comfort level and type of trip. Open an itinerary to see each day, the places you will stay and what is included.
  2. Save what you like. Tap the heart on any listing to keep it. With a free account your saved items stay with you across devices.
  3. Send a request. Pick your dates and group size and send a request from the page. You get an estimate while you plan, but it is only a guide worked out from the partner’s prices, not a quote.
  4. Hear back from the business. The operator replies by email, phone or WhatsApp, and can adapt the trip. Partners are asked to reply within 24 hours.
  5. Agree and pay them directly. TTO does not take payments or hold deposits. You agree the final trip, the price and the terms with the operator, and you pay them.
  6. Share what it was like. After you travel, leave a review so the next traveller can choose with confidence.

How we keep listings trustworthy

Licences

We ask tour operators for their current tourism licence and business documents before they are listed. A “verified” badge means our team has seen the licence documents the operator sent us at the time. It is not a guarantee of quality, safety or financial standing, so we still suggest you confirm what is included and how you will pay before you commit.

Review before listing

New businesses and changes to live tour packages are reviewed by our team before they appear. We can send a listing back to its owner with notes when something needs fixing.

Reviews

Reviews come from travellers with an account, one per person per business. Our team checks each one against our Review and Community Guidelines before it is published, and businesses can reply in public. We do not sell good reviews and we do not let businesses remove honest ones.

Who owns a listing

Places to stay and restaurants that nobody manages yet show a “Claim this listing” option instead of a request form, so a request never goes to nobody. Claims are checked by our team before access is given.

06

What TTO is, and is not

  • TTO is a marketplace and a directory. We are not a tour operator, a travel agent or a hotel, and we do not run the trips or stays listed on the site.
  • We do not set prices. Prices and availability are given by the partners and confirmed by them.
  • A request does not hold a date, a room, a table or a price until the partner confirms it.

You can read the details in our Terms of Use.

07

What we believe

  • Local first. The people who know the parks, the mountain and the coast best are the ones who live there. We want them to be found.
  • Honest information. Itineraries, inclusions, prices and reviews should say what you will actually get.
  • No surprises. We say plainly that we do not take payment, that estimates are only guides, and what a badge does and does not mean.
  • Respect for your data. We ask only for what is needed to send your request, and we explain how it is used in our Privacy Policy.
  • Responsible travel. We encourage trips that treat guides, porters and cooks fairly. Operators describe how they look after their crew on mountain treks.

For businesses

Own a tour company, lodge or restaurant? Listing is built around what you need to run it well:

  • A dashboard to see and answer requests, with suggested replies you can edit.
  • A guided tour builder to create itineraries, prices, seasons and dates, with a preview of how travellers will see it.
  • Analytics on views, requests and reply times, and a place to reply to reviews.
  • Tools to keep your profile, photos, rooms, menus and policies up to date.

See the partner page to join or to claim a listing that is already on the site, or write to [email protected].
